About us

The Ōtepoti Dunedin Whānau Refuge Fundraising Committee is a group of dedicated Otago University law students who come together each year to organise and deliver a range of fundraising events.

Originally formed through the Law for Change Otago initiative, the committee has grown into a passionate, independent group committed to supporting the local community.

Through their energy, creativity, and commitment, the committee raises vital funds that strengthen the support we provide to wāhine, tamariki, and whānau across Ōtepoti.

What does it mean to fundraise for ODWR ?

Fundraising for Ōtepoti Dunedin Whānau Refuge is a meaningful way to contribute to our kaupapa and support wāhine, tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau affected by family violence.

Our community fundraising initiatives are often led by dedicated university students who generously contribute their time, energy, and creativity to support our mahi. Each year, Law students organise and deliver a range of fundraising activities across Ōtepoti, from one-off events and awareness campaigns to the much-anticipated annual Designer Sample Sale and Auction.

These initiatives play an important role in strengthening our ability to respond to the needs of our community.

By choosing to fundraise for Ōtepoti Dunedin Whānau Refuge, you are helping to ensure whānau can access specialist family violence support, advocacy, safety initiatives, programmes, and practical resources when they need them most.

Your contribution supports safer homes, stronger communities, and the long-term work required to break cycles of violence and create lasting change for future generations. Every fundraising effort, large or small, makes a meaningful difference and contributes to a community where whānau can live free from violence, with safety, dignity, and hope for the future.
